- Clothes or the top of the dryer feel very hot.

Cleaning the lint trap is not enough. Lint gets past the trap and builds up inside the vent where you can’t see it.
Check the vent before you buy a new dryer
Slow drying usually isn’t a bad dryer. It’s a restricted vent. Always have the vent checked and cleaned before installing a new dryer. A new dryer on a clogged vent will dry just as slowly and run just as hot.
Not all dryer vent cleaning is the same
The short duct behind your dryer is only the start. Most of the vent runs inside walls, through the attic, out the side of the house, or up to the roof. Bends and long runs hide lint.
If the roof jack is clogged, the vent is still clogged. A vent can look clear at one opening and still be blocked farther along.
Before you hire anyone, ask: “How will you clean the entire vent, including the roof jack?” I clean the whole run, start to finish, and confirm airflow at the exit.

What do LG dryer codes D80, D90, and D95 mean?
They are airflow warnings. D80 means the vent is about 80% restricted, D90 about 90%, and D95 about 95%. The fix is cleaning the vent, not replacing the dryer.

Yes. A new dryer connected to a clogged vent will dry slowly and run hot, just like the old one.
